    Question try to Lock Column

I am trying to lock only column B which has a formula in it.
The reason I am trying to lock it so when someone else inputs data into the sheet they don’t mess up the formula; the formula is in each cell of column B up to row 1200.
I also would like to be able to have full edit permission so i am able to highlight all cells in the row once that data has been entered into a respective program.
This sheet is just to track if data has been entered into another program.

    re: try to Lock Column

By default, all cells have their "locked" property turn on. However, it is not "activated" until worksheet protection is applied.

First step: select all cells for which you want to allow data entry and turn off the locked property (uncheck "locked" in the cell format dialog).

Next, on Ribbon Menu, select the Review Tab and choose Protect sheet and make your choices for which actions you want to allow users to be able to perform.

    Password is optional.

As for "permission" to highlight, while setting the sheet protection option, make sure "Select Locked Cells" is checked. Users will not be able to edit the cell, but they be selected (highlighted).
