count if ... # of next month or last month help from today

I have a column of dates. I need an excel formula that counts how many dates are next month and another that tells me how many dates in the column that happened last month from TODAY (so that it's automatic .. and I don't have to change the month reference)

Hi Lightkeeper, welcome to the forum.

Perhaps this will help you.. for dates in the previous month:

=SUMPRODUCT(--(MONTH(A1:A40)=MONTH(DATE(YEAR(TODAY()),MONTH(TODAY())-1,DAY(TODAY())))))

For the next month, change the -1 to +1.
