Need formula to display cell info depending on date

Hi
I am creating work rosters and need to display on the front page the names of the guys on shift each day.
basically I want to look at the first column for todays date on the roster, if the row has n, d, nc, or dc (night shift, day shift etc) I want to display the column heading (guys name), but I just can't seem to figure out how to do it.
Can anyone help please?

You're much more likely to get a response if you provide a dummy workbook with at least the data layout. Otherwise, we are shooting blind.

Basically I want to display on the front page who is working the day shift and night shift when the date = today.
