    Automatically generating Codes

    Good day all,

Please I need help in the attached. I want to be generating codes for the attached automatically. I want a situation whereby after entering a staff's details, his code will automatically appear so that no two people will have the same code. Secodly, if I mistakenly enter someone's details two times, the system will will inform me that such details exist and request my permission before assigning code.

    Please help.

    Thanks.

    Re: Automatically generating Codes

What rules apply to creating the staff ID?

    Re: Automatically generating Codes

Rule 1: The code will start with CB plus 5 digit numbers (eg: 00001)

Rule 2: The codes will be according to date of employment ( This will be with some flexibility such that someone engeaged tomorow can be 00002 while someone engaged today will be 00003) depending on whose details are first submitted for code generation.

Rule 3: If the gap between the engagement dates of 2 people is more than 3 days, the one first employed must get code number first. In order words, the tolerance limit for flexibility is 3 days.

Rule 3 may be ignored if it does not work.

Rule 4: If one person's details are entered two times, the system should alert me and seek my permission to assign code.

    Thanks a lot.
