Red face Return column index number after entering two column references

Column A has a list of letters A-AZ that represent columns in excel
Column B has a list of numbers 1-52

I want to be able to find the column index number by typing the beginning column and the index column letters in two cells.

example: I want to find the column index for column F and my starting column is C. So I want to be able to type 'c' as the start reference cell and 'F' in the columntoindex cell and excel will return the value 4 to give me the column index.

Even if there is an easier way to find column index, I would still be interested in knowing how to make this work.

    Thanks!
