I want to find the total quantity of key words in a spreadsheet. Let's say I have multiple cells with specific key words in a column such as "red", "white", & "blue". How do I create a formula that will tell me the total quantity of each red, white, or blue on the spreadsheet?

Try Countif
eg
=Countif(A1:Z10,"red")
Where there is a will there are many ways.
