    Question Exchange data between workbooks

    Hello everyone,

it might be trivia but i didnt figure out a solution yet..

Is it possible when i am in my current workbook to refer to the value in another cell in another workbook within a formula?

    Example:

I have a workbook named "Sample1.xls" that contains a spreadsheet "revenue" and in cell C24 is the value that i want to have in my current workbook.

Do you guys have an idea how that could be done?

The helpfunction didnt give me an idea.

Thanks for you time and efforts in helping me.

    Best regards Dieter

    Re: Exchange data between workbooks

I have a workbook named "Sample1.xls" that contains a spreadsheet "revenue" and in cell C24 is the value that i want to have in my current workbook.
    =[Sample]Revenue!$C$24

The easiest way to get the reference of the target cell into the the source workbook is, with both workbooks open.

    1. Make the source workbook the active workbook
    2. In the applicable cell type the equal sign: = (nothing else at this point)
    3. Switch to the target workbook
    4. Click once in the target cell (C24) and press the enter key

    Do you know . . . ?
