Spin Button will not link to cell

When I create a (control) spin button and try to specify a cell in the "Linked Cell" field in the properties window, the value is not retained. I'm fairly experienced and am having a brain freeze - this has never happened before!

Solved: I was in R1C1 mode and tried to enter as B2. Enter R2C2 and it will translate to $B$2. Or get out of R1C1 mode.
