    Which function should I use?

    Hello,

I am in the process of creating a very complex spreadsheet. I need to calculate something depending on a bunch of different info in different cells. For example if D5 = "Amount" and H5 = "simple" and H9 = "365/365" then do this....

Would vlookup be the best function to use?

Well like always, it depends. If you have a defined set of variables/conditions, then maybe using a mega formula is the way to do.

John Walkenbach (the god of Excel) came up with this concept. When you think about it, it is a simple and powerful way to go.

excelmaster5000, in this instance based on your post you would be looking to utilise multi conditional IF

    =IF(AND(D5="Amount",H5="Simple",H9="365/365"),do this,else do that)
