    function to multiply...

I'm using Excel 2003, my spreadsheet is an inventory list. (I didn't set it up, I kind of 'inherited' it from someone else.) The inventory has upc's, item names, things like that. It also has quantity, price, and then it is supposed to have the total (quantity multiplied by the price).

As I said, I didn't set the spreadsheet up, so I have no idea how to fix my problem. When I create a new entry and enter in the quanity and price, it is supposed to automatically multiply those two and put the total in the next column. But on some rows it's not doing that. So I guess that means the function (I think that's what it's called?) is not working in every row.

I have very little excel experience, but if anyone could tell me how to fix this and get my quantity and price to multiply in every row, that would be superb. If you need any more information, let me know.

    Thanks so much....

Some idea of the data and the formulae would help.

What may have happened is that rows were added (imserted) without also copying the formula.

Go to the top of the spreadsheet, select the cells with formulas on the first row, and copy them down the whole block. This should update all rows so that the values appear as you require.
