    If function reading formula

I am trying to set up an If statement that IF A1 contains anything return that. And if it is blank return todays date. So in if false I entered =today() and instead of todays date showing up in that cell the =today() shows up. Help greatly appreciated. Thanks

    HI

Try the following formula with the cell formatted for the relevant date type.
