    Question cross sheet lookup issues

ok, i'm a casual user of Excel and i know its capable of pretty fancy equations but i don't know where to start...

i have two sheets, on sheet 1 i have a list of IP's that corespond to a desk # in the office and an empty column of employee names. on sheet 2 i have a list of desk #'s which correspond's to a list of employees.

in sheet one the desk# column, the # will be input manually and i want the employee column to populate automatically with the names from sheet 2 which correspond with the desk#.

i don't know how to do this without an extraordinarily long list of IF statements... i'm hoping there is a way to read a range of data...

I could be specific if you'd post a workbook, what you need is probably VLOOKUP.

If that doesn't get you there, please post an example workbook.
