    What Function for retreiving data that matches a text in a col

    I wonder what of all functions in Excel I should use for retreiving data that matches a specific text in a column, for example, I have a column with the following data on different rows TX3, TX4, TX5 etc., if I just would like for Excel to retreive data that matches TX3 in the column, then add something to that and return a value in another sheet/tab what do I do?
