Error: 'Workbook contains one or more links that can not be updated'

So how do I find out which link(s) can not be updated?

My workbook contains links to another workbook with multiple worksheets. Each time I open it I "Update" links to retrieve the latest data. Then a second error message comes up stating 'Workbook contains one or more links that can not be updated' and gives the option to 'continue' without updating or 'edit links'. When I choose to 'edit links' I can see the source is the correct spreadsheet, and the status says OK. I have tried 'change source' and re-direct it to the same page. What I don't understand is once I am viewing the 'edit link' window and everything looks OK, how do I know which links (out of the hundreds on these pages) were causing it to say 'one or more can not be updated'?

Please let me know if you need more information. I have been searching the forum since last week but without luck... I think it's time to ask directly.
    Thank you for any help!

    Welcome to the forum.

Check the Refers to for all defined names.

    Hello,
    Thank you for your reply!
I don't think I am using 'names'. I actually checked those, and the names that I did have stored in there were no longer used, so I deleted all of those just to be sure that wasn't my problem, But same messages come.

What I am using links for is prices. Just one number in its own cell, (not any complicated formula) which comes from the master price index workbook which gets updated periodically.
I am not sure if this is helpful, thank you for trying.

Download and try FindLink.xla, available at http://www.bmsltd.co.uk/MVP/MVPPage.asp.

    Hello again,
I downloaded and tried this, it did give me a huge list of all of my links, but I do not find any errors! I still don't know what links can not be updated when opening. Other ideas?

Aside from going through the list carefully, no.

Thank you for this post. This was a helpful reminder to check the Name Manager.
