VLookup intermittent problem!

Hi,

Hope someone can help!

I have a file that has vlookups on one sheet and the data in another. Within the vlookup sheet is a A. street name, B. a reference number and a C. name. Only B and C need to return values.

The vlookups only work if the street name is copied directly from the second sheet! If the street name is written directly in the cell exactly spelt the same etc it won't perform the lookup!!

I'm pulling my hair out please help!

Managed to resolve it, must be the excelforum luck!

I had to copy all the adddress' into notepad and paste them back in and for some strange reason it worked!

reason was they were not the same
some were
street(then no spaces)
others were
street,space,space,space
and that was on both sheets
just double click the cell and see where the cursor stops!
