    VLOOKUP/MATCH suggestion shift calendar

    Hey guys,

Looking for some suggestions on how to do this sheet im working on for a shift calendar.

Its a typical 12 hour rotating shift. All im trying to do is have them enter the date and it return who is working -day/night/OT/OT/Supervisor

I tried with VLOOKUP/MATCH but I got in over my head quick.

    I've attached a sample

    Thanks!

    Hi Cboggie,

i have used INDEX with 2 MATCHES, in order to find the relevent cell in the matrix, i have also changed the O/T to O/T1 & O/T2 as well as the Overtime night, this gives you the unique keys needed,

    hope it helps you,

    thanks reg

    Thanks!

I had quite a few formatting issues with my code. I've added the values for shift A, B, C, and D and its working like a dream.

My original idea was to have the excel document pull from a date on a word document and have the information update, however, I don't want them to have to click from word to excel ( to press f9 to update) then back ......

    im on to plan B

    appreciate the formula

    Reggie,

I have modified the excel sheet so its more clear of what im trying to do.

Have a look and see what you recommend. I will be getting into many nested If's for what im trying to do and I would like to not have to do it, if there's a trick around it.

    Thanks again!!
