    Excel countif and logic

I have a excel worksheet that needs to use multiple criteria to get my desired result. I am trying to determine if an employee's employment terminated between a specific date range ( which I have solved with the following formula =COUNTIF('Employee Database'!$E$15:$E$1014,">"&A19)-COUNTIF('Employee Database'!$E$15:$E$1014,">"&A20) this tells me the numberf of employees that quit in the past seven days.) Now I want to add the additional criteria from column M of the employee data base, Column M tells the reason, I only need to know if there is a reason, not the specific reason so I only want to count a cell in the range m15:m1014 if it is not blank. Can anyone help me with this?

You will have to revert to a Sumproduct() formulation for that..
