    Poisson distribution

    Hiya,

I'm a relative newb in maths and excel so need you lovely peoples help!

Basically, i've got a spreadsheet with poisson distribution using the required function in excel. I've been told that i need to use a bivariate poisson distribution to make my results more accurate.

    I'm clueless here...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

Disclaimer: I just read up on Poisson distribution for a couple minutes and am by no means to be considered an expert on either this topic or statistics in general.

That being said, it sounds like the number of events you have is dependent on the number expected (possibly vice versa, though I'm not sure why that would be the case). If one number is based of another, it ceases to become a variable and starts becoming a result. Getting them to be independent of each other will get the formula to use correct variables and improve the accuracy of the results.

First off, I appreciate you putting time into replying to me.

This is esentially my problem. I have the following table with the poisson distribution using the poisson forumula in Excel. I would like to make it a bivariate poisson somehow...

    Cheers

I did a little more looking and saw that this stuff is kind of over my head. Unfortunately, as stated in my disclaimer, I'm no stats genius. Sorry I can't help you more.
