Function to choose between numbers

Here's basically an example of what I need.
Function: If A2 isn't blank, put 1 in box A1. If A3 isn't blank, put 2 in box A1. If both A2 and A3 aren't blank the higher number is shown instead of adding them. Then also be able to do it with multiple boxes so highest number again is shown.
