    Copy & Pasting

I copy and paste from bank websites into Excel, but the numbers do not paste as numbers. When I try to manipulate the data with formulas, the cell does not recocgnize that a number is in the cell. Does anyone know how I can paste into Excel so that the numbers come through as numbers?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There are a number of tricks to get the values which are coming over as text to convert to numbers. My preferred method is to put a 1 into a cell and Copy. Then highlight all the cells/columns that you want to be recognized as numbers and Paste Special -> multiply. You are telling Excel to multiply all the values in those cells by 1 which tells Excel to treat them as numbers and not text.

    Did that work for you?

It did not work, but not sure if I am doing it correctly.

So you put a 1 in a cell. Then you copy from the website, then past special - multiply into the cell with the 1 in it, is this correct?

    The above did not work.

Please let me know if I am doing it incorrectly or if you have other tricks.

    Thank you

First copy from the website into Excel, then, in an empty cell, put a 1 and copy and paste special> multiply over your existing numbers.

Still did not work. Would you send me an email to ajohnston@afvusa.com and I will email you an attachment of what I am trying to do?
