Excel file for a waiting list

    Hello,

I'm trying to use an excel file to do a waiting list. In one of the cells, I would like to automatically put the time when the customer come in (with a format like hh:mm). Basically, the problem is just to put the time (i.e in A5) at the moment when "waiting" is written in an other cell (i.e. in F5). However, I have tried several things and none of them were working. I would prefer not to use a macro but all the ideas will be considered.

    Thank you.

I think the easiest solution is to simply go to that cell and use the shortcut CNTRL + : (CNTRL + SHFT + . You can have that column formatted to hh:mm. Otherwise, I think you'd need a macro. Formulas can be used to put times into the cells but they would change everytime you added another line. :/
