I'm trying to set up a spreadsheet that will recognize ticker symbols in one cell and convert them to the name of the fund or stock in another cell. For instance, if I were to enter one of the following ticker symbols in C4:
AMPFX
GFAFX
CLGAX
WMEAX
WLGAX
JENSX
MFOCX
TRBCX
Could they be converted to the following corresponding names in B4:
Amer Funds Amcap F
Amer Funds Grth Fund F
Calvert Large Cap Gr A
Ivy Cap Appreciation A
Ivy Large Cap Growth A
Jensen J
Marsico Focus
T. Rowe Price Blue Chip Growth
In addition to converting those symbols to those names, could it also leave B4 blank if I didn't enter any symbol into C4? And if I entered a symbol that wasn't listed above, could it leave B4 blank? Is this possible?
I can see how this request may not be totally clear, if it is to hard to understand I'll try explaining it a different way. Below, if one of the symbols (that are located on the left side of the =) is entered into cell C4, can they be converted into the appropriate name (which is located on the right side of the =) into cell B4?
AMPFX = Amer Funds Amcap F
GFAFX = Amer Funds Grth Fund F
CLGAX = Calvert Large Cap Gr A
WMEAX = Ivy Cap Appreciation A
WLGAX = Ivy Large Cap Growth A
JENSX = Jensen J
MFOCX = Marsico Focus
TRBCX = T. Rowe Price Blue Chip Growth
