    How to create a vlookup to work with a drop down list

    hi all,


    basicly i need to use the vlookup function i think as i am creating an ordering system but i want a drop down list of all the products so that when i click one the price etc is filled in automaticly if u know what i mean, i have a product list on a seperate sheet and a ordering page on another seperate sheet, that is what im struggling with.

    ok basicly here is the spread sheet and as you cna see there is an order page and a product page, i need to creat a dropdown list of all the products that goes onto the order sheet, then i need to use the vlookup function to get the prices wieghts etc into the order if u see hwta i mean. sorry i am useless at explaing stuff

    See if this helps. Uses a name range for the Item Description e.g Name range is called "Items"

    anychance you can delete the thread please, if not what does the ISNA function do?, i have to be able to understand the formula you see

    If the dropdown list is blank and you use

    =VLOOKUP($A9,Product_list!$B$4:$G$148,COLUMN(B1),FALSE)
    it will return #N/A which is a error. To avoid #N/A I used a if statement to make it blank if an error (true statement) and return the result otherwiser (false statement)
