    Custom Date Format

    Good Morning,

    I'm using Excel 2007.

I have a date of 1/1/1898 in A1. I want the date to read Jan 1 1898. I give the date a custom format of mmm d yyyy but it does not format it. I suppose the problem is with the date being before 1900 but I'm not sure. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,

    Michael

Yes, Excel doesn't recognise dates before 1900. You can try using John Walkenbach's Xdate add-in...

Do you just want to format the date or do calculation based on it?
