I often have to type scientific abbreviations such as mgl-1 (milligrams per litre) or ls-1 (litres per second). The "-1" in these examples are in superscript. Can I create shortcut keys to insert customised text like these?

Thanks but I can't see how to include superscript in the correction.
See if this event macro helps
Right click your sheet and select view code then paste this in. When you type either mgl-1 or is-1 it will change the 1 to superscript

Thanks but can't get it to work. Am using Excel 2003 but shouldn't think this has any bearing.
See if this helps. Set to work on Column A which has a dropdown
