Question Applying Conditional Formatting to Data Validation

    Hello all,

I am new here and am looking for some help on applying conditional formatting to a data validation cell. I've got a data validation list set up so that the cell must be one of three things in a list. I'd like the cells to turn a certain color depending on which selection is made in the list. Is this a possibilty? I am operating on Windows 2000 with Excel 2000

    Appreciate everyone's time!

They're perpendicular -- apply validation without regard for conditional formatting, apply conditional formatting without regard for validation.

Sorry to have not been clear; they are independent.

If you want to couple conditional formatting to the values on the validation list, then you can do as shown on the attached pic.
