Way to find/replace multiple values at the same time?

I have a spreadsheet where one column is a 4-letter job title code for each of our employees. I also have a legend in a separate spreadsheet of what each title code means. Is there a function that will replace each of the title codes in the original spreadsheet with the actual description?
