    tricky array question

my question is about functions that take two or more arrays as an argument -- in this case i'm using the correl() function, but i'm sure there are others it would apply to as well.

i can see how to refer to two ranges of cells dynamically by naming them. for example, in the attached file, i can change the text in f5 to "series_3" and get the correct correlation (0.15 in this case).

but is there a way to get the same effect without using named ranges, by using an offset or lookup function in array form?

i can't describe this too clearly but the attached file should make it clear what i'm trying to do.

thanks in advance for any advice.
