    Question Regarding Accounting Months

Hello all, I work as a sales analyst for a manufacturing company, and use Excel 2007 for 99% of my job. I often have trouble finding solutions to some problems, so I was hoping this forum could provide some help.

My question this morning is: Can I define month starting/ending dates in Excel?

The reason I ask is because our accounting month end dates sometimes fall a week before or a week after the actual calender month ends. The reason this poses a problem is because I run a sales report on a daily basis using a macro, and one of the macro steps is to use the MONTH function when reading a certain date. But this Month function reads the dates using calender months, not our accounting months, so I often have to go back manually a change some of the months myself.

Is there a solution to this? Thanks for the help!

You can certainly define month start end dates but you proably cant use the MONTH function using them dates. You might need to use some form of LOOKUP using the dates you've defined.

Ensure you describe your problem clearly, I have little time available to solve these problems and do not appreciate numerous changes to them.

Oh, ok...so are you suggesting to use a VLOOKUP with a table array of the few dates that are the exception to the calender months? (e.g. 08/27/07 = SEPTEMBER, 08/28/07 = SEPTEMBER, etc.)
