    Why H column not working???

    All,

Its been awhile since I last posted. I need some help with this one. Please refer to the "Datasheet" tab.

I have columns that grabs the info from other tabs. At the bottom, starting at row 29, I have calculated the totals. Refer to column H. When adding up all the values in column H, the value is not correct. All other columns are adding up the SUMIF function properly but the H column isn't adding the values right. Please refer to M29 for the value of adding the 06L numbers in column H. Then when I copied all the data to the M column and then did the same calculation in cell H29 using the values from the M column...the values are correct. What gives?? Anyone help me to resolve this issue?

I may have found an error in Excel. Thanks for your info.

    V/r,

    Hi,

Check that all the numbers are numbers - some may be formatted as text - (they look like numbers) and won't be added.

Holy cow...that is it. I don't know how that happened. I guess because the winds are labeled w/ a "0" (zero) in front it must be represented as text. I changed the 040 to 40 and then I typed 340 in place of a so-called text-based 340 and it added to 380.

Thank you so much...I have been wracking my brain for over 2 hrs on this.

I'm in the processing of changing the format of each cell from text to number. However, the values that are already there won't update to a numeric format. I have to retype the value back into the cell in order for the value to be recognized as a numeric value instead of text.

Is there a quicker way of doing this other than retyping every single number back in. I will have to do this 25x for each day of the month for at least 12 months. Alot of retyping will need to be done. A shortcut would be awesome. Thanks.

    Hi drvortex,

easiest way is to use a spare column.

eg if you messed up figs are in col D

    in spare col enter =D1*1

    copy down

copy and paste these values back into Col D
