    median if function

i'm using a 'median if' function to choose median value for certain regions. however, when i use this, its gives me the wrong number...example, if i have 7 numbers inthe range, instead of giving me the 4th, it gives me the third...i've double-checked my ranges and can't figure this out. any caveats for this function? (PS, i'm already confirming using Cntrl+Shift+Enter)...

The median is not the average, it is the half way point where half the numbers in the group are larger than it and half the numbers are less than it.
If there is no exact median number in the group, the two nearest the half way point are added and their average is used as the median.

    median if

i realize that. like i said, with a range of consecutive integers, say, 1-7, the median should be 4. 3 of the numbers are greater and 3 are lesser.

the interesting thing about my median if on this program is that it gives me the 3 number in the data range...
