    Mapping

    Hi All,

I have this table which I have to map. It has a huge mapping logic. I would like to know is what can I use for this - excel lookup, macros or access. I am attaching the mapping table. Also the logic is :

Search MII report (both GL and Sub-Account) on the basis of Sunny GL and sub-account. If matches, return the value which corresponds to the LAPGL account, which in turn will return the BA/PC required and TP required.
e.g. search MII 100005 and 0000 and match it with 100005 and 0000 in Sunny and return 0010000000 and this in turn will return N/Y in BA/PC and N/Y in TP. Could someone help me out in this. That would be really helpful.

    Thanks a lot.

    Regards,
    Indira

    Hi,

Could you give an example of what data you want where in the sheet? I'm struggling to understand which data is to be used as index, and which as returned data - sorry.

    Mapping

    Dave,

Here is what I am looking into:
I have to use the MII report GL account and the sub-account as the index and compare that to the Sunny GL account and subaccount. e.g. the first account in MII is 100005 and 0000. I have to match that with the Sunny GL acct 100005 and also the sub-account 0000, 0001,0002 etc. This will say that MII record 1 matches Sunny record 1. So this sunny Gl acct is linked to a subsequent LAP account -(in this example it is 0010000000) and that has the Y/N for BA/PC and TP. So I want the return value to be of the LAP account. In that way I can connect it to the BA/PC and TP account.

Its a bit confusing, sorry. So was confused of whether to use excel or access. I used the lookup function for the first column in MII , but I want to compare both the MII columns to the 2 columns in Sunny.

Hope that clears a little bit of the confusion- Otherwise I can explain further. Thanks for looking into this.
    Regards,
    Indira

    OK,

So if you take a look at the attachment and tell me where I've gone wrong, I'll try again!!

    Thanks a lot

Wow, thats just what I want. Thanks so much.

Another thing is can should I use the lookup function now to get the value of BA/PC and TP for the subsequent LAPGL acct.

    Thanks a ton.
    Regards,
    Indira.
