    vLookup for Multiple Variables?

    Hi,

    I have a worksheet with 3 columns
    Date, Type, Hours

What I want to do is compile a table with date going across the columns and type along the rows (see attached screen shot).

I want to sum all the hours for each date & type and compile them in a table seen in the screenshot.

Is there a way I can do this through vLookUp? Or would sumif be better?

Anotehr way this can be phrase that might make it more clear

Can vLookup look for 2 variables. If those 2 variables return true, to add it, then continue searching the entire array and adding all values that return 2 true on those variables?

    Good evening MasterMonk

Unfortunately, you seem to have forgotten to attach the file so I can't see exactly what you mean. However, I think the best way to go would be to use the SumProduct function which can work like a SumIf, but with multiple conditions (SumIf will handle just the one condition).

See this link for a description of SumProduct applications :

If all this boggles your mind, then my add-in, available via the link below has a SumProduct formula builder (Ultimate > Formulae > Multiple SumIf Generator) that you may find useful - easier than getting to grips with the SumProduct syntax.
