Excel Always trying to "calculate" after entering a lot of lookups

    Hi

I have roughly 80 tabs in a worksheet. On each tab there are roughly 300 lookups on each tab. Each tab is a price sheet and the lookups are there to look up prices off the main data table.

For some reason, after i get done entering all of the lookups for each tab at the bottom of the screen it says "Calculate."

HOWEVER, Excel is ON AUTO CALCULATE NOT MANUAL.

So why is this happening? Have i reached a critical point where Excel won't lookup the informatoin anymore? All of the lookup results seem correct.

Can someone tell me if there is a problem with this or why it's happening?

    Thanks for any help.

80*300=24,000, which is a lot of lookups. I'm guessing that everything is heavliy cross connected so that almost any change results in all the formulas being recalculated.

You should consider setting calculation to Manual.

The "Calculate" is not a suggestion to you, it is a messatel telling you what Excel is doing.

Well here's the thing, i know it's a lot of lookups but when it says "calculation" it is does calculating. You can hit F9 and it flashes that excel is calculating, you can see it reach 100% then it just says "calculate" again.

Maybe i'll just do direct links.

    Anyone else have any suggestions?

Would using Access be an option?
