Cursor Selection Changes ???

Please help :

Normally my cursor is the normal cross shape.

All of a sudden it has changed to a cursor like you have in Word - "I" shape.

You then have to double click the cell to select the cell and change values.

How do I get it back - and for a single click to select ?
