Import from MySQL Problem

In Excel 2000, after exporting/importing some data from a MySQL 4.1.21 database I cannot format or calculate cells.

Is this a known issue?

After the export, I use Save As and re-save the spreadsheet as a workbook.

My GUESS is that mySQL is exporting the numbers as text. I think I read something from John Walkenbach saying that the solution to this is to select the range of numbers, copy, then use Paste >> Special >> Add.

See if this works.

I even tried to change the datatype to a number to no avail.

Next time I do it I'll do it as a csv separated file.
