Colour display

I use conditional formatting in my spreadsheets but I can't work out how to change the colour of a cell.

Stock level 10
Units used 8
Units left 2
Minimum stock 5
Units required 3

Basically when the units left drops below the minimum stock level I need the cell colour to change. The formula needs to say:-

however
if cell C1 contain units left and D1 contain minimum level.
in conditional formatting try this.

formula is: =C1<D1 and change colour to Red
