Try this in Sheet1 cell B2
=MEDIAN(IF(Sheet2!$A$2:$A$9=A2,Sheet2!$B$2:$B$9)) enter as an array, Ctrl+Shift+Enter and copy down

It appears to be working for that sample. However, when I apply it to my actual file, it does not work. It gives a #N/A if the column is longer than the values ie: $B$2:$B$100. Basically if there is no data it errors.
Does that make sense?
Try this,
=MEDIAN(IF(Sheet2!$A$2:$A$9=A3,IF(Sheet2!$A$2:$B$9<>"",Sheet2!$B$2:$B$9)))
