    Referencing Buttons & Checkboxes

Thought I could use a check box or button to enter a value or condition in a cell but can't make it work. Is there a way to make the select/deselect condition for a box to enter a value in the linked cell other than True/False that can be switched on or off and that I can reference with a formula? I need multiple boxes to assign to a column list.

    Thanks
