    Conditional list - HOW?

    Hi again guys,

OK I have a grade book (same one) and I want to create a list of those students who averaged a D grade on a separate worksheet. I can't seem to find any reference on Excel help, but this must be a common use of excel?

All I can find is conditional formatting based on IF. The other problem is the students are separated in to classes of 30 (six groups) so the data does not run in an uninterrupted column. I have no idea how many students this will be so need it to automatically create a new list in a single column going down, just the names no other data is required.

Example of what I have is attached, appreciate any advice,

    Thanks

    Dave

    Hi Dave,

Would you mind uploading a zipped copy of your worksheet ...?
It seems to me a pivot table could solve your problem ...

    Thumbs up Gosh...

Again, it seems you guys know some kind of magic unknown to the rest of us, Carim sorry for the very late response, had to get my motorbike out of my front room (don't ask).

VBA Noob, amazing thanks, I don't fully understand the mechanics, but can adjust it to work very easily, maybe then I will be able to join the circle of magic

Carim see attached although it seems a bit redundant now, but will give you an idea of the project, I’ve deleted a couple of analysis sheets as they made it too large. By the way each graph was updated to each table manually, is there a way of copying graphs across a sheet to grab data from the next adjacent table automatically?

I’m working on comparisons between grade predictions based on IQ testing done a couple of years earlier, teacher predictions, % of accurate predictions based on actual grade obtained in terminal examinations and so on, hopefully it will be a big number crunching machine to identify failing students (and teachers) cause that’s what education has become here these days, result driven.

So impressed with what you came up with VBA Noob, my boss will be very pleased Ill be sure to give the credit. - Thanks.

    Dave.

    Hi Dave,

Thanks for the spreadsheet, it does help to understand the problems you are facing ...

If I may suggest something, for your future spreadsheets, do not hesitate to have, on one hand, a sheet dedicated to your database, and on the other hand, several sheets which perform all kinds of analyses ...
It will make your life a lot easier ...

    Funny that...

    Thanks Carim,

I was just starting to think along those lines as several people are inputting data and they seem to drift off to the wrong place so I've had to put in a lot of protection to prevent corruption and I'm guessing you already known, starting to loose track of whats doing what and where in those other sheets left out.

So far its kind of evolved, but now I'm ready for a redesign,

Thanks for the input, much appreciated,

    Dave
