HELP NEEDED with COUNTIF in multiple sheets

Can anyone help me please? I am constructing a report card system for the schools in my district of a workbook with 30 worksheets (One kid per worksheet). I need to count how many times A (or B or C or D etc) occurs in a particular cell of each worksheet eg. How many As were given for English, How many Bs, Cs etc

I have been mucking around with COUNTIF and getting no where. Is this the best way to do this task.

    Your help appreciated.

Are you analyzing the same cell in each worksheet?
Btw, it is much more easier and better database design to have one master worksheet from which you can make any report you like

    Thanks Aurthur,

Each worksheet represents one student report card. In each report card there will be a mark for Math, English etc. I need to count the number of A, B, C etc for Math, English etc. so it will be the same cell each time. Each workbook will have 35 report card templates (worksheets)

I am not sure what btw means?

COUNTIF only seems to work in one worksheet and I can't reference other worksheets.

I can only think to PASTE LINK data to one central worksheet to COUNTIF. Not difficult - but tedious.

Unless someone has a better idea.

BTW means By the Way :-)

Now if each of your cards has the same structure you might use a Pivot Table with multiple consolidation ranges.
Just follow the wizard, it will help you through.
Don't hesitate to post if needed

    Cheers
