    CountIF

I know that this is easy and I am having a brain blockage today.

I have an attendance sheet. I enter in the S for Sick V for Vaction. I have a summary and all is good except when someone takes a half of a sick day.

My current formula is =COUNTIF(B9:B17,"S")*8 Now I want to add =COUNTIF(B9:B17,"H")*4

I have tried combining the condition several ways. I cannot get it to work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    =COUNTIF(B9:B17,"S")*8 + COUNTIF(B9:B17,"H")*4

    Hi Matt,

    Dave's suggestion is perfect ...

For your info, Countif(), Sumif() functions are limited to one criteria, for several criteria in one single formula, you would need to use THE magic function Sumproduct() ...
