    Is this possible?

I appreciate everyone that may read this and thank you for the feedback or non feed back.

Those of you that help the people like myself with questions and provide answers have no idea how much WE appreciate that you are here.

That being said, I have a question.

I am working on a spread shhet that I want to track technician certifications.

The left colum will be tech name, the trop row will be 15 certification levels.

What I want to do is:

Example: taylor is the first technician.

I want to be able to (going from left to right under each certification) is put a check mark or black dot showing that he is certified in that catagory.

Is there a formula that will allow me to assign a key or whatever so that if I go to Taylor's row, go to certification level 9. If I strike a key it will put a black dot or check mark in that cell?

It's kind of like the AAA travel books you read. They give you a list of hotels on the left side, the amenaties on the top and a black dot in the cell if the hotel has that ammenity.

Thank you for anyone that can assist me in that. And if you'e in the Sac area, say hi and I'll buy the wine (or beer) sometime.

    Thanks again,

    Scuba Wino

    Hi,

Goto Insert > Symbol and select say Wingdings in there you will find a tick. Select and then press insert.

Sure you will find more cool characters to play with better than a spot

    Thanks Noob.

That worked for now. However, I have 25 technicians and 19 certification levels.

Is there and easier way than (sorry, quicker way) than having to "Insert" for every cell.

I will use that for now, but there's got to be other options for me.

    I owe you a beer.

    Hi,

Just copy and paste and or drag. Or if you look in the cell it has the symbol ü just copy that into your cells and then format cells as Wingdings

    Or another tick option

Format cells as Wingdings 2 then enter a Capital P for a tick and Capital O for and X

PS Long way to go for a beer

Yep, I just formatted the whole page as Windings and use the lower case L (l) and it puts the dot in that cell.

I knew it could be done, I just needed the guidence.

I guess being in the coporate world, you just get used to Aerial and forget about the rest of the fonts.

    Thanks, you saved my day.
