    calculate time in the building

I have a report pulled from an access database. (not sure if I should go back
to access to do this easily)

I have data that includes the name of the vistor A2
the date of the visit B2
the type of service (check in or check out) c3
and the time of the service d4
So I now need to find the total time the person was in the building... I
have played with some different pivot tables, but I am stuck still doing a
    lot of manual manipulation.
    any ideas?

Let's say John Smith comes twice in one day and stays for 2 hours each time
for a total of 4 hours and Jim Brown comes once that same day and stays for 2
hours. How would you report that?

RE: calculate time in the building

I'm wanting to end up with the average time a person spends in the
building... as a goal (out of 5000 visitors for the month... the average time
spent in the building was 2 hours per visit)

so the report would be of all the visitors the average time spent in the
building is ____ and some visitors come more than one time per day.

Do you want to know on a daily basis how long the person was in the building
    or total?
