How many characters in a box..?

    Hello there,
I am creating advertising forms in Excel. I have this one publication that
only allows you 45 spaces per line (these include ALL characters; letters,
numbers, punctuation marks, etc.) and i have created "Email Ads" to make it
easier for new Excel users to fill out the form, then email it to me. But i
need to ensure that they do NOT go over the 45 charaters. Is there anything i
can do to make this easier for New Excel users, but easy for me so all i have
to do is print it?? If not in Excel, is there another publication i can use?
    Please email me at misha.wasson@prurealty.com

The number of characters in a cell can be limited with Data Validation.

Highlight the cell(s) you need to validate (with the same rule)

    Go to Data, Validation.

The Data Validation Screen will pop up:

    in the Settings Tab,

    Allow: Text Length
    Data: Less than
    Maximum: 45

In the Input Tab, check Show input messages when cell is selected
    Title: Warning
Input Message: There is a 45 character limit for this cell

In the Error Alert Tab, check show error alert after invalid data is entered
    Style: stop
    Title: Error
Error Message: You have entered more than 45 character

Feel free to change any part of it.. and this is for excel 2003, your version might be slightly different
