    PHONE NUMBER formatting

All I want to do is have my phone numbers appear (555) 555-5555, but
for some reason I keep getting all these weird -- in between the
numbers. I read that I should put
"(999) 999-9999"! as an input mask, but that didn't work. Does anyone
    have a suggestion?

    I appreciate the help!

    Thanks,

    Carla

    Carla,

Format / cells / special / phone numbers
    or custom
    [<=9999999]###-####;(###) ###-####
you just cant put in the dash when entering the number, enter numbers only.

    Re: PHONE NUMBER formatting

Huh...when I use my table under design view, format does not have any
    option.

Should I be making an input mask instead? Right now, when I input a
phone number in forms, it will say (###) ###-#### and won't let me
overwrite it. I must have screwed something up? Any advice?

    Carla,

Are you using excel or access? What version?
