A cell shows its Formula instead of its value. Why?

    Hello everyone,
I entered VLOOKUP formula into a TEXT-formated cell. The cell shows its Formula instead of its value.
As a matter of fact, it works properly for NUMBER-formated cells. The same formula shows its value for a NUMBER-formated cell.
    Why?
    Does anybody have an idea?

A cell formatted as TEXT treats all entries as TEXT. You need to format a formula cell as either General or someother specific format that meets the needs of the formula result (currency, percentage, date/time, etc.). If you are expecting a text value to be returned by your formula, General is the correct format for the cell containing the formula.
