I created a spreadsheet with a few merged cells. i would like to sort them,
by any colum, but i get an error saying operation requires merged cells to be

Frankly stay away from merged cells unless yoiu are using them for headers,
they will always cause problems especially when it comes to sorting or copy
and pasting. I have not used merged cells for several years and I have
notsuffer from it, quite the contrary. You can get similar design using
format>alignment center across selection. There is no way you can sort
merged and non merged cells together
