simple time question

ok lest sy in cell d5i have an in time of 8a and in cell e5 i have an out time of 3p,, i need cell f5 to calculate the amount of hours and return the value in a decmel fomat not a h:mm format. can anyone help?

Just change the format of the result cell to Number with the required decimal places. As you see, the dates in excel are basically numbers and a unit of 1 represents 1 day.
