    Pour words on a and b vs criteria on a1 and b1

    please look at this file

    formula on a2 and b2 down to give me those results

    a2 = seven letter words
    b2 = eight letter words

    both dic pasted on e and f

    ask the formula to search at 55000 rows that is how long the dictionary

    in A2: =SORT(UNIQUE(FILTER(E:E,LENGTH(E:E)=7)))
    in B2: =SORT(UNIQUE(FILTER(F:F,LENGTH(F:F)=8)))

    It searches for each letter and turns to TRUE if each letter is present in each word. See the attached..
    If you were using Excel 365 there might be a much easier way..

    Hi cysu11,

    I don't think his Excel 2013 has the Unique() or Filter() functions yet.. I may be wrong.

    If you were using Excel 365 this formula in H1 (just a single cell) would work. Then pull the formula to the right and it works for Dic2.

    Better still would allow any letters to be put into A1 and B1. This formula using Excel 365 will update the answers automatically.

    JT it processed a dictionary of 1oo,ooo words at less than 3 seconds
